5G… What is it and how can my business benefit?

29th October 2019

Superfast ‘fifth generation 5G’ mobile internet is here, and it promises download speeds up to 20 times faster than what we currently have. But what is 5G? What does this mean to you as a business? And why does your business need it?

What is 5G?

5G is the next generation of mobile internet connectivity, set to bring much faster data download and upload speeds, wider coverage and a more stable connection with much less latency.

What does this mean to you as a business?

5G works on larger channels to carry higher speeds which means that your business will have access to mobile data speeds that exceed the fastest home broadband network available. This means that your business can be confidentially connected in a crowd with reliable data and call connections in busy places like workplaces, airports and train stations. The new technologies used by the 5G network are also designed to create less latency (meaning less lag time).

Why does your business need it?

Worldwide mobile data traffic doubles every 18 months and is expected to multiply five times before the end of 2024, meaning that soon 4G won’t be able to keep up with us! Spectrum bands are becoming congested due to traffic, leading to service breakdowns and long lag times, your business simply can’t afford to fall behind.

5G efficiently provides large capacity for devices such as mobiles, equipment sensors, video cameras, vehicle trackers and many other smart devices for your business. By using a 5G network, more devices can transmit more data at the same time without overcrowding the network, which will result in faster device connectivity, with wider coverage and no delays.
